Foundation History
Barangay San Jose was created on May 3, 1956. The first people who lived in the Barangay were the Subanen tribe. It has an area approximately 513.19 or 635.634105 hectares,once a part of Tumapic, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.
Two rich land owners, namely Dr. Jose Abelardo and Mr. Samson Tamparong, heartily agreed to donate some portion of their land and properties for a school side in order to cater the educational needs of the children in the area.
When the area was already recognized, Mr. Tamparong suggested that the Barangay be named “San Jose” in honor of Dr Jose Abelardo, who has a generous heart.
Vision
Barangay San Jose is a developing barangay with God fearing, environmentally friendly and responsible citizenry, who are also peace loving and willing to undergo challenges and participate in the growth and continuous progress of the community and to attain success, peace, orderliness and healthy constituencies.

To deliver basic services for every constituents through implementation of sensible policies and programs specially on health, education, employment and to enable each individual participation to attain progress, peace, environment friendly, God loving and to transform into a World class community.

To implement good governance, have a peaceful and orderly barangay, minimize criminality and to have unity and harmonious relationship of the people within the barangay.
